Research Education and Compliance

The Office of Sponsored Research and Program (OSRP), which reports to the Office of Research and Economic Development,  oversees the administration of and adherence to federal regulations for research involving human subjects and animals. All research involving human subjects must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and animal research must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). OSRP also facilitates other institutional compliance policies such as Biosafety, intellectual Property, and Conflict of Interest.

OSRP offers workshops on grant writing, budgeting and finding grants,  training workshops; on-line training modules that cover Animal Care and Use and Human Subjects in Research; a quarterly newsletter; participating in new-faculty and new graduate students orientation activities; and indentifying possible grant and other research funding opportunities for faculty. The office is also involved in developing and offering interactive web-based designed training , in collaboration with various colleges, that can be delivered for education and compliance efforts.
