  4. Laboratory Procedures – Faculty and staff conducting educational and research activities involving animals shall be responsible for providing their staff and students with training on procedures and equipment that are specific to these activities and are not covered in the general or surgery survival training programs.

  5. Occupational Health and Safety Program – Covered personnel that are to use protective equipment, e.g., masks, gloves, etc., are to receive training in the proper use of these items.  This training will be provided by the Environmental Management Department.
A Hazard Assessment Tool is being provided to ensure all covered personnel understand the hazards and risks associated with various animal species to be encountered in the course of their activities. The online policy document, STANDARD OPERATION USE POLICY, contains the information that describes the compliance function of the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs.
