Purpose:

To review all research and teaching activities which involve the use of live vertebrate animals.

To ensure that all activities which use vertebrate animals follow Public Health Service Guidelines on the Human Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and that all experimental animals are maintained in a manner consistent with federal guidelines.

Missouri State University Policy document (ANIMAL CARE AND USE POLICY) recognizes its responsibilities in conducting educational and research programs involving the care and use of animals.  These Standard Operation (STANDARD OPERATION USE POLICY) responsibilities include humane care and use of animals used in educational and research programs at Missouri State, the need to educate faculty, staff and students of the importance of humane care and use of these animals, and compliance with applicable federal laws and implementing regulations.
